THE HISTORY OF FOSTER CITY VILLAGE

Foster City Village is the first Village established on the Bay Area Peninsula, following the lead of Beacon Hill Village, founded by a group of older neighbors in Boston in 2001. Those neighbors created a way to continue living vibrant and healthy lives in their homes and communities, even as they aged and gradually needed more support services.

Today, the Village concept is growing rapidly throughout the country and in Australia.

In mid-2011, current Board Member, Patricia Player Maxwell, championed the idea of implementing the Village concept in support of the Foster City senior community. She was joined early on by Elaine Pitts, Laura Guluzzy, Jeff Brown, Marlene Hopper, Gil and Audrey Guerin, Yana Rudakov, Kate Mayott, Edd McKibben and Maryellen Conner.

Thanks to the early and ongoing support of the Rotary Club of Foster City, and Lee Michelson, CEO of Sequoia Healthcare District, Foster City Village incorporated in February of 2012.  Kathy McKibben, Jennifer Malament & Gabriela Alvarez soon added their talents and energy to organize our Village.  Foster City Village opened for business on February 14, 2013.
